How to choose your bedframe

If you read any advice on choosing a bed, then you’re going to find absolutely loads of information about your mattress. It is absolutely the case that the quality of your mattress is absolutely vital when it comes to selecting the best bed online.

However, it’s also very important to select the right bedframe, and not just for aesthetic purposes.

Your bedframe will be the focal point of your bedroom, so it’s absolutely important that it suits your decor, your furniture, your ambience and is of high quality. If you’re not sure whether a divan or a metal frame is best for you, take a look at the different kinds you can find to help you make your decision.

Divan beds

These are one of the most common, traditional and popular styles on the market. A divan base is attached to a headboard and a mattress sits on top. They are often cheaper than alternatives and tend to last a long time. They’re also extremely available and it’s very likely that you’ll be able to pick one up at a cheap price. However they aren’t particularly stylish and offer very little extra storage. They are the plain, serviceable option of bedframe, and depending on your personal taste of the usage for the bed in question, could be a good choice.

Platform beds
These bedframes are more decorative and much more stylish as they’re available in different styles, finishes, materials and colours. If you want a leather option then there are plenty to choose from, or if you prefer wood then you’ll also be spoilt for choice. You can also choose between different slats, which affects the way it feels. It also dispenses with the need for buying a separate headboard as it is an all in one option. Sadly, they’re usually self assembly only, which can be a pain and, although there is space underneath to push extra stuff, it can be a messy way to store items.

Storage beds

These are an excellent option if you have a bit more money to spend. If you’re short of space, which many of us are, then a storage option could be the best choice for you. It’s also a much more stylish option than a normal divan bed. You can usually choose between drawers that you can use to store your stuff, or another option is the ottoman style bed that lifts up completely. They’re a really good option for smaller rooms but can be rather heavy and awkward to lift.

These are the main types of beds available, but there are endless variations. From beds with pop up TVs in the foot of the headboard, to beds with separate drawers that roll out from underneath, there are many and varied options for you to create the perfect sleeping environment for you.
