Silentnight Geltex 3000 Affluent

Your search for a new premium mattress will introduce relatively new mattress-in-a-box brands and more well-known brands like Silentnight.

Big industry hitters usually offer the best quality, which is especially true of the Silentnight Geltex 3,000 Affluent.

To cut a long story short, the Geltex 3,000 Affluent costs £999 for a king and £899 for a double but sleeps like a £3,000 mattress. The level of motion isolation, deep comfort, and pressure relief are unequalled at this price point.

This review covers everything you need to know about the Silentnight Geltex 3000 Affluent to help you buy confidently.

Mattress type

The Silentnight Geltex 3,000 Affluent is a hybrid mattress that uses springs and foam and aims to provide the best of both worlds.

However, unlike some hybrids that use more foam, the Geltex foam 3,000 has more springs, creating a bouncier, more responsive sleep surface.

How it sleeps

The Silentnight Geltex 3,000 Affluent has a medium feel, traditionally best for side sleepers and people weighing 140-190lbs.

On a scale of 1-10, with 1 being cloud soft and 10 being rock hard, it sits in the 6-6.5 range, offering a delicate balance of comfort and support.

The top comfort layer is made from UltraFlex foam, a memory foam infused with Geltex, which helps dissipate heat for a comfortable sleep. The first few inches of travel are super-squishy but firm up nicely once in position.

The spring layer sits beneath the UltraFlex, with 1,000 mini springs and 2,000 pocket springs. The mini springs have less travel, responding to your movement instantly, while the pocket springs help isolate movement.

The result is a mattress that is dense, responsive, and squishy, traits that make it perfect for those who want a bouncy yet squashy mattress.

Fabrics and feel

We can’t fault the look or feel of the Silentnight Geltex 3000. It has a soft, knitted Purotex outer cover and a super-soft edge band. The underside is made from a polyester blend that resists snagging.

We love the tufted mattress surface, which helps accentuate the deep cushioning, giving us something soft to squish into instantly.

Allergy UK Approved

The Silentnight Geltex 3,000 is approved by Allergy UK. It uses hypoallergenic materials throughout its construction and is treated with Purotex, a 100% natural probiotic that helps fight against bacteria.

Edge support

Edge support refers to how easily a mattress crumples and folds at the edge, with good edge support providing firm resistance so you can use the whole of the mattress for sleep rather than sticking to the middle.

The Silentnight Geltex 3,000 Affluent has an encapsulated band design that stiffens the springs at the edges, keeping everything tight. This helps the mattress keep its shape when lying at the edge, but it isn’t without fault.

The mattress does crumple right at the edge, making it feel like you might roll off, but this is mitigated by moving a few inches inwards.

The edge support is sufficient up to three inches from the edge, typical of some hybrid mattresses. If you want the best edge support, check out these mattresses.

Warranty and reputation

Silentnight provides a five-year warranty on the Geltex 3,000 Affluent, which is par for the course in the premium mattress segment.

What Silentnight offers different from other brands is an exceptional reputation for mattresses that last well beyond the warranty period. They have their manufacturing quality perfected down to a tee, more so than most others.

Summing up

The Silentnight Geltex 3,000 Affluent backs up its premium price tag with comfort levels that rival mattresses costing twice as much.
