Double No Partner Disturbance Med/Firm Pocket Springs Pillow Top Comfort Mattresses

A medium-firm mattress is a level of firmness that is slightly firmer than a medium mattress but still has a moderate amount of "give". A medium firm mattress is extremely comfortable. It's perfect if you want a little extra support but still, like your bed to feel cosy and soft.

Pocket springs are made by individually wrapping each spring in a fabric pocket. This design allows the springs to work independently, providing more support and reducing motion transfer. A great choice if you're looking for a mattress with balanced comfort and support.

A pillow top on a mattress is an extra layer of soft padding stitched on top of the mattress surface, providing additional cushioning and a plush feel. It enhances comfort by reducing pressure points while still maintaining the mattress's underlying support.

Mattress FAQs
Everything you need to know before you buy
What mattress firmness is right for me?
Firmness depends on your sleep position, body weight and personal preference. Side sleepers generally suit a softer feel as it cushions pressure points at the hip and shoulder. Back sleepers do best with medium to medium firm — enough support to keep the spine aligned. Front sleepers need a firmer surface to prevent the lower back dipping. Heavier sleepers tend to need a firmer mattress as they compress the layers more.
How long should a mattress last?
Most mattresses last between 7 and 10 years with proper care. Higher quality pocket sprung and latex mattresses can last 10 to 15 years. Signs it's time to replace yours include visible sagging or lumps, waking with aches and pains, or simply not sleeping as well as you used to. Rotating your mattress regularly helps extend its life significantly.
What's the difference between pocket sprung and open coil?
Open coil mattresses use a single connected wire system — less expensive but more prone to motion transfer. Pocket sprung mattresses have individual springs each sewn into their own fabric pocket, so they respond independently to movement and weight. This means better support, less partner disturbance, and a longer lifespan. Pocket sprung is generally the superior choice for most sleepers.
Is memory foam good for back pain?
Memory foam can be very effective for back pain as it contours to the body's natural curves and distributes pressure evenly. However, if you need firm spinal support, a medium-firm pocket sprung or hybrid mattress may work better. It depends on the type and cause of your back pain — our mattress quiz can help match you to the right choice for your specific needs.
Do I need a specific mattress for my bed frame?
The most important thing is getting the right size. Most mattresses work with most frames. The exception is slatted frames — if the slats are more than 7cm apart you may need a sturdier mattress or a slatted base insert. Divan beds with a platform top provide the firmest, most even support and suit any mattress type. Adjustable beds require a specially designed flexible mattress.
What does spring count actually mean?
Spring count refers to the number of individual pocket springs in a king size mattress. Higher count generally means more targeted support — but it's not the only factor in quality. A 1,000 spring mattress from a reputable brand will often outperform a cheaper 3,000 spring mattress. The gauge of the springs, the fillings above them, and overall build quality matter just as much as the count.
How do I know if my mattress is too soft or too firm?
A mattress that's too soft will cause you to sink and feel unsupported — you may wake with lower back aches or find it hard to change position. One that's too firm creates pressure points at the hips and shoulders, especially for side sleepers. Ideally your spine should be in a neutral position — not bowed downward or arched upward — when lying in your normal sleep position.
What size mattress do I need?
The right size depends on your bedroom dimensions, whether you sleep alone or with a partner, and how much space you personally need to sleep comfortably. A double (135 x 190cm) is the most popular choice for couples in smaller rooms. A king size (150 x 200cm) gives noticeably more width and length and is worth the upgrade if your room allows it. A super king (180 x 200cm) is ideal if space is no object. For a single sleeper, a small double (120 x 190cm) gives room to stretch without taking up too much floor space.
What's the best mattress for couples?
The ideal couples mattress minimises motion transfer so neither partner disturbs the other. Pocket sprung mattresses with a high spring count (1,500+) are excellent for this as each spring reacts independently. Memory foam and hybrid mattresses also absorb movement well. If you and your partner prefer very different firmness levels, a zip and link mattress lets you join two mattresses together — each person gets their preferred feel.
How do I care for and maintain my mattress?
Rotate your mattress 180 degrees every 3 months for the first year, then every 6 months after (unless it's a no-turn model). Use a good quality mattress protector to guard against moisture and staining. Vacuum the surface regularly to remove dust. Allow your mattress to air periodically — pull back the covers for 20 minutes each morning before making the bed.
