7 Tips for a Bright and Breezy Summer Bedroom Makeover
Pack away your winter Bedding. For a fresh new look for summer, pack away your winter bedding, cushions, throws and curtains and invest in new. Swap your bedding for something in a lighter fabric, such as cotton, and you can then go for any colour if it complements the rest of the décor.
Don't have as many scatter cushions and perhaps just a thin throw which you can put at the end of your bed or on a chair. When swapping your curtains over, go for something lighter and softer.
A long voile will keep the strong sunlight out and cover the windows nightly, making the room look fresh and summery. Go for colours again that will complement the rest of your room.
Hang up a new wall Art Create a new summer appearance on your wall with some new wall art. Perhaps go for some flowers and warm sunny images. Make your room feel more personal, and hang family and friend photos up. You can do this by changing the pictures on the wall, swapping the frames, and going for some that aren't as heavy and dark.
Have a Feature Wall This is a great way to add a bold statement to your room, and it's a lot easier than decorating the entire room. There are several ways this can be done, so why not try one of the below?
> Paint the feature wall a completely different colour than the others. Something nice a bright in the summer would be good. > Try peel-and-stick wallpaper with a bold print.
Update your wardrobe doors Changing your wardrobe or cupboard doors can make a big difference to your room, and it doesn't have to be complicated or expensive. Here are a few ideas to try below.
> Paint the doors you already have. Go for something completely different, perhaps something bright to contrast against the walls or a clean white. > Take the original doors off and either replace them with a new door, perhaps going for an old shabby look or a curtain instead. > For something simple and cheap, change the handles.
Change your ornaments Add some new ornaments, or start fresh. Anything new or different can change the bedroom's look. Add bold, bright colours, fresh flowers and warm weather patterns. Here are a few ideas to make your bedroom look different for the summer.
> Add a bold print or large mirror above your dressing table. > Have some fresh flowers or plants on your dressing table or drawers. > Change your picture frames to either bright, bold colours that will go with your bedroom or stick to all-white, making it look new and fresh.
Paint the Floors If you want a new look for your bedroom, why not remove the carpet and paint the floor? Either go for a white that makes the room look airy, fresh and more prominent. It would be ideal to have a small room or use a bold, bright colour to match the décor. Blue always looks cool for summer.
Hang some Floating Shelves Shelves give you extra space to add new ornaments, photos or fresh flowers. They are easy to hang and will take up less space. They can be hung anywhere in the room, and you can even place them behind the bed as an alternative to a headboard.
