How to Assemble a Divan Ottoman Bed

Many people can be put off by what feels like a mammoth task assembling your bed, so here is a simple guide to help you understand how to build your brand new ottoman bed.

Remove all packaging with care. Inside all sections of your bed, you will find plastic bags filled with accessories. You will also need a 13mm spanner.

The ottoman bed will come with a bag which includes the following:

Chrome Glider for a divan ottoman bed.

Gliders (x6 for single bases or x4 per half for larger bases)

Headboard bolt for a divan ottoman bed.

Headboard Bolts (x4 for single bases or x2 per half for larger bases)

Headboard spacer for a divan ottoman bed.

Spacers (x4 for single bases or x2 per half for larger bases)

Bases with two sections will include (x2 joining clips and x1 lid joining bolt)

Fitting the gliders to the ottoman bed base

The first thing to do is to attach the gliders to the bottom of the base.

This is done by carefully pushing them into each of the corner sockets.

Putting the hydraulics into place

  1. Remove the nut from the upper hinge mechanism.
  2. Pivot the gas strut upwards and position it over the thread from which you removed the nut.
  3. Place the nut back on the thread and tighten it with your spanner. The other nut is positioned at the bottom of the gas strut and should be tightened at this stage.
  4. If you have a second hydraulic section to the bed, then repeat the same process for that section.
1. Remove the bolt from the upper hinge mechanism.
2. Pivot the gas strut upwards and position it over the thread from which you have removed the bolt.
3. Turn the bolt back on the thread and tighten it with your spanner. The other bolt is positioned at the bottom of the gas strut and should be tightened at this stage.
4. The other bolt positioned at the bottom of the gas strut should also be tightened at this stage.

For two-section beds, you will need to connect the sections

Push both sections together and join using the clips provided. Then, you need to join the lids together using the small bolt. (there will be a recess on one section for the bolt to screw into).

Use the joining clip.
Clip over both bed sections to keep them in place.

Attach your headboard to the divan base

Floor standing headboards

  • Find the holes for the headboard bolts (marked with a sticker)
  • Put the headboard bolt through the headboard slot
  • Locate the spacer between the base and the headboard. Insert the bolt through the spacer and tighten it in place.

Headboards with struts

  • Remove the spacers from the headboard bolts
  • Find the bolt holes on your ottoman - approximately 15cm from the side of your bed.
  • Screw your headboard bolts into the bolt holes, slide the headboard on and tighten the bolts.

Hopefully, this straightforward guide towards assembling your ottoman base will help you overcome the task and have the bed of your dreams ready for the perfect night's sleep.
