The Drovers Inn is one of the most haunted hotels in Britain, with potentially hundreds of ghosts and several that stick in the memory.

The story of Room 2 is particularly frightful. In the winter of 1792, a young family was trying to find shelter at the Drovers Inn. Unfortunately, they took a wrong turn and froze to death. Over the years, guests in Room 2 have seen weird things, but none more so than a couple who woke up freezing at night, only to find the young family standing shivering at the foot of their bed, their breath visible in the freezing air!

Room 6 is another one to avoid, haunted by the ghost of a girl who drowned in the local river. She was found downstream and taken to the hotel, lying on the bed in Room 6. Some people have seen Anabel, and worse, some people have woken up with the feeling of her wet, cold body against their skin!

According to the paranormal investigator and author Tom Slemen, the Adelphi Hotel & Spa in Liverpool is the most haunted hotel in Britain.

The property’s Sefton Suite has high paranormal activity, known to trigger a range of electromagnetic devices and make people feel intense panic. Hundreds of witnesses have seen ghosts, including three men standing at the far end of the room, claimed to be Captain Edward Smith of the Titanic and two unidentified officers.

The basement is also off the cards, haunted by a grey lady in a Victorian-style dress.

The Langham Hotel is London’s most haunted hotel, with hundreds of witness sightings spanning over a hundred years.

Room 333 is supposedly the most haunted hotel, with people witnessing the ghost of a German prince who jumped out of a hotel window to his death and an evil spirit that shakes the bed (sometimes violently).

The basement is also haunted by the ghost of Napoleon III, who lived at the Langham during his last days in exile.

The Haunted Bedroom at Talliston is a tourist attraction, with guests hearing unexplained sounds and footsteps in the room.

The room is lavishly Edwardian, designed in the style of a child’s bedroom. It has strange energy, with some people experiencing pressure while in the room and an intense desire to leave as if they are in mortal danger or being watched.

Although it’s a scary place to sleep, Talliston is an extraordinary home and well worth a visit if you are ever in the Essex area.

The ghost in room four at the Black Swan Hotel is said to be a young woman in a dress who died while giving birth.

Several investigators have looked into the claim. One study in 2004 produced a clear photograph of a human face with a partial body visible, and no possible rational sources for the picture have been identified to this day.

Other ghosts at the Black Swan Hotel include a beautiful young woman, thought to be a jilted bride, staring into the fire in the bar area. Guests in other bedrooms in the hotel have also experienced weird sounds and sudden temperature changes.
