If you love that sinking feeling when you get into bed and want to sleep on a soft, plush surface, a medium-soft mattress is for you.

Medium-soft mattresses have lots of flexibility in the top layers but provide support when compressed. They offer less support than medium mattresses, but depending on how much you weigh, it could be the perfect firmness rating!

Is a medium-soft mattress right for me? 

Some sleep experts say medium-soft mattresses are too soft for support, but softness and support are relative based on how much you weigh.

For example, a medium-soft mattress will feel relatively firm to someone under 130 lbs because it doesn't compress under them. Contrarily, a medium-firm mattress will feel soft to someone over 220 lbs.  

We recommend medium-soft mattresses to people weighing 130-140 lbs (up to ten stone). Any more than this, you will sink too deeply into the mattress, compromising your spine and hip alignment (which can give you lower back ache).

A medium mattress is a better fit if you weigh between 140 and 175 lbs, especially as you get to the higher end. Above this, go for medium-firm.

Can you sleep on a medium-soft mattress when you weigh more than 140 lbs? You will surely sink a lot, which probably won't be comfortable.
